Abstract

Nina G’s keynote, How to Grow a Carrot, is based off of the children’s story The Carrot Seed by Ruth Krauss, where people doubt that a little boy’s seed will grow. He shows them otherwise! Nina will blend best practices for educating and counseling students with disabilities with personal stories.

By night Nina G is a comedian performing at comedy clubs and performing at colleges across the country. By day she is a counselor at a California community college where she works with student with disabilities to access their education. In 2015 she premiered her one person show Going Beyond Inspirational and produced the first ever comedy compilation album of all comedians with disability aptly titled Disabled Comedy Only. Her Tedx Talk, The Everyday Ally, is helping to teach people without disabilities to be effective allies and to look at disability through a social justice lens. Nina G’s children’s book, Once Upon An Accommodation: A Book About Learning Disabilities helps children and the adults in their life understand the importance of accommodations and advocacy. In 2018, her second book, Stutterer Interrupted: The Making of a Stuttering Stand Up Comedian, is due for release. Learn more about Nina G at www.NinaGcomedian.com.
